Cornell University
Free Event

Led by Vicki L. Bogan

A professor of finance and economics in Cornell's Dyson School, Vicki will introduce us to the field of behavioral finance, which examines the social and psychological forces—from reliance on too little information to herd mentality to "gut" responses—that can lead us to make poor financial decisions.

Homo economicus, who can be relied on to make perfectly rational and fully informed decisions about finances, turns out to be a mythical textbook creature. However, we homo sapiens, flawed and impulsive, can certainly improve our financial choices by understanding how we so often go wrong.

This program is part of Cornell's Adult University (CAU), which offers acclaimed education vacations designed and led by Cornell faculty. Through CAU, you can enjoy travel adventures to spectacular destinations around the world and inspiring weeklong summer seminars on the beautiful Cornell campus. Programs are open to all, including Cornell alumni, families, and friends. For more information and to register, visit www.cau.cornell.edu, e-mail cauinfo@cornell.edu, or call 607.255.6260.
