Join A&S Career Development for a Career Conversation with Zack Kollias '89 about his career path and experience as President Of Applegreen Travel Plaza Operations.

Career Conversations are meant to be small networking sessions designed to offer you the chance to get answers to your most pressing questions about a particular career field. There is no formal agenda for this event, just a group of 5-15 students who have the opportunity to ask questions about Zack's career path.

Students should come prepared to ask questions. Zack will give a 10-15 minute overview of his career path, and then there will be a Q&A session (with students asking the questions).

Zack A. Kollias began his professional career in the restaurant industry as a young man in his parents’ Dairy Queen in Chicago after which he went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.

Since 1995 he has served in multiple executive, international, operational and financial leadership positions in both QSR and casual dining.  During his career he has worked in over 30 countries, opened over 750 restaurants and developed and worked with many of the great leaders in the restaurant industry.

He is currently the President of Applegreen US Travel Plaza Operations based in NJ.  He leads operations, finance, IT, human resources and all other functions necessary to grow the 350 food and retail outlets.   Prior to Applegreen, he was COO at BNI (the world’s largest marketing referral company) and Sr. Vice President of US Franchise Operations for all 5,000 plus Wendy’s domestic franchise units.

Zack resides with his family in Atlanta, Georgia where he has been a resident for nearly 20 years. He has been married to his wife, Margaret, over 30 years and has two sons.  He is a Director on the AHEPA Mother Lodge Chapter No.1 Educational Fund Board, where he leads the Fund’s Four by Forty capital campaign.   In his spare time Zack likes to play tennis/golf, fly fish, collect coins, watch sports and spend time in the mountains with his family.
