A group of 24 Cornell students will create and present an original piece of documentary theatre to start a conversation about race in the Cornell community between February and April of 2011. No theatre experience is necessary to participate. Undergraduate and graduate students welcome.

Can We Talk About Race?
Do you ever get the feeling there are some things we just don't know how to talk about? If race is one of the things you want to discuss there's an exciting project starting now on campus that with that goal in mind. Through the creation and performance of a piece of documentary theatre a group of Cornell students will engage the community in what will hopefully be an honest and complex discussion about the real differences we face and the ways these differences shape our society. Theatre is uniquely suited to the task of catalyzing this often-avoided communication as it engages both our emotions and our intellect in ways other media do not. You don't have to be an actor or a theatre person to apply. Students can get one academic credit for participation. There are many ways participants can be involved with the project. If you are unable to attend the info session, you can still participate in the project.
