“We Step Into the Light” is a project that raises awareness about sexual assault, relationship and gender-based violence, and stalking through art created for “thrivers,” which is a term that has been chosen to replace the term “survivors.”

We are looking for artists who are interested in taking part in this project. In “We Step Into the Light,” each artist will be paired with a survivor of sexual assault, relationship violence, gender-based violence, or stalking.

The artist will get to know the thriver through conversations that focus on understanding the thriver. The artist will then create an artwork that captures the uniqueness and beauty of the thriver.

Art for this project can be of any form, including painting, sculpture, photography, jewelry, poetry, song, and dance. We will be hosting an opening reception and art exhibition of all the created artworks in April 2015.

If you would like to contribute your time and talent to this project, please contact Angela Han at ahh89@cornell.edu by February 28th.
