Learn about local politics and how to navigate political systems in order to make effective change.

Many people feel that government and politics can seem distant, opaque, or difficult to navigate.  Ben Swanenkamp, Deputy Budget Director - Erie County will speak to some of the lesser known intricacies of Buffalo and Erie County political parties, gatekeepers, interest groups, and politics. We will discuss campaigns, affiliating with an organization or network and how to get active with a political party. Finally, we will share a PPG-created resource on the Who's Who of local elected officials.

RSVP to Light lunch will be provided.

Buffalo Commons offers workshops that share knowledge for the public good on topics ranging from civic engagement and local policy to best practices in community-based research. These workshops provide technical assistance and capacity building for social sector workers and the public in WNY.
