About this Event
View mapAs a new faculty member, Anne T. Byrne (Assistant Teaching Professor, Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy) recognized the need to teach differently from how she had originally been taught data analysis concepts and methods. Considering the potential value (and potential pitfalls) of new generative AI tools, Anne opened up conversations with students in two quantitative methods classes about what kind of generative AI policies would make sense for the courses. Through a series of scenarios and discussions, the classes arrived at policies intended to make appropriate use of generative AI tools in ways that support learning. In this seminar, Anne will share how she engaged students in the process of designing AI policies and how she checked in with students throughout the semester to see if the policies were working for the classes. Refreshments are provided.
This series is co-sponsored by the Center for Teaching Innovation and the Sue G. and Harry E. Bovay Program in the History and Ethics of Professional Engineering.
