"Bilingual Meetings/Encontros Bilíngues: "The Belly of the Atlantic" / "O Ventre do Atlântico" by Fatou Diome.

These meetings are part of a collaborative project between the Portuguese program (Romance Studies/Cornell University) and the Instituto Federal de São Paulo (Brazil), in which Portuguese-speaking community at Cornell meet university students in Brazil and representatives of Afro-Brazilian organizations. Discussions center on books written by (mainly) Afro-Brazilian or Africa-American writers on themes related to identity, representation, and racism, and promote exchange of experiences in a safe and respectful environment.  

This event will be in Portuguese and English.

Translation will be provided in both languages thanks to the generosity of the students of Portuguese and the Portuguese-speaking community in Cornell.
