DESCRIPTION:Dr. Daniel Beiting will be presentating 'The microbiome as a se
nsor and modulator of inflammation during infection.'\n\n\nDan Beiting is
an Associate Professor of Pathobiology at the University of Pennsylvania S
chool of Veterinary Medicine. He completed his PhD in Immunology at Corne
ll’s Baker Institute for Animal Heath before moving to Penn for a postdo
c in genomics and host-pathogen interactions in David Roos’ lab. In 201
3 he joined the faculty at the PennVet. His lab has broad interests in th
e microbiome and metagenomics. He takes an interdisciplinary approach to
identify mechanisms by which the microbiome influences the outcome of infe
ction and inflammation at barrier surfaces\, such as the gut\, lung\, and
skin. In addition\, Dan’s lab is actively involved in curriculum develo
pment for bioinformatics and has developed tools and resources that help t
he research community access\, analyze\, and visualize complex metagenomic
  datasets.\n\n \n\n Registration is required\, please register by Monday\,
  May 26\, 2025.
