Arabic music performance by Simon Shaheen (violin and oud) with Firas Zreik, Tariq Rantisi, and Rami Abuolaya playing other instruments including the qanun and ney.

Simon Shaheen dazzles his listeners as he deftly leaps from traditional Arabic sounds to jazz and Western classical styles. His soaring technique, melodic ingenuity, and unparalleled grace have earned him international acclaim as a virtuoso on the ‘oud and violin.

A professor of music at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Shaheen is one of the most significant Arab musicians, performers, and composers of his generation. His work incorporates and reflects a legacy of Arabic music, while it forges ahead to new frontiers, embracing many different styles in the process.

This concert is FREE and open to the public.

Join us on October 20 for a lecture on Arabic music with Simon Shaheen.

This event is sponsored by the Department of Near Eastern Studies with support from the Office of the Provost, Department of Music, Society for the Humanities, and Arab Student Association.
