Applying Risk-Based Approaches in Food Safety

Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 9:00am to 10:00am

Virtual Event

A perennial challenge in food safety is identifying where to begin: Which pathogens, value chains, food system infrastructure, and food handling practices present the greatest risk to human health and nutrition? In recent years, risk-based approaches have emerged as strategic tools for setting priorities for food safety research, policy, and interventions. These proactive, data-driven methods help governments, private businesses, NGOs, and other stakeholders create a roadmap for reducing foodborne illness.

The Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Food Safety (FSIL) is pleased to offer a webinar series on risk-based approaches in food safety. This second webinar, Applying Risk-Based Approaches in Food Safety, will feature case studies in risk assessment in Central America and Asia. Speakers include:

  • Dr. Fernando Sampedro Parra (University of Minnesota)
  • Dr. Hung Nguyen-Viet (International Livestock Research Institute)
