Join farmer and organic orchardist Jason Townsend of Kingfisher Farm for a hands-on session of apple tree grafting!

We are offering 2 sessions. First one being on Friday March 22nd from 6pm-8:30pm. Second being on Saturday March 23rd from 10am-12:30pm.  Cost of the workshop is $75 per person. Workshop will be held at CCE Oneida County office, located at 121 Second Street, Oriskany, NY 13424.

Each participant will be able to graft and prepare 5 trees to bring home with them! This workshop starts with the basics of apple rootstocks, working with scions, sourcing disease resistant varieties, and how to handle your grafted seedlings for their first year. There will be plenty of time to practice your cutting skills and get feedback.

Rootstocks are from the Finger Lakes Geneva Research Station and are sturdy, fast growing, and fireblight resistant. Scion wood comes from Kingfisher Farm’s certified organic orchard, where it’s been selected for disease resistance, hardiness for CNY, and organic growing conditions.

BYOB (Bring Your Own Bucket) to take your trees home in.
