"Ingraining Selves: Domestic Wheat, Terroir and Sentiments of Nationalism in Japan and Taiwan"

Annie Sheng is a PhD candidate in the Department of Anthropology at Cornell.   Her research explores how people approach being modern, specifically through the lens of anthropology.  She analyzes value and social meaning in the purview of foodways, global trade, economic policy, food safety, cultural heritage and identity.
