Marcene Sonneborn is a business development and management consultant, working in innovation and technology, creativity and strategic planning. She provides technical and business assistance to clients in new product development, R&D and commercialization, new concept marketing, and new ventures. She presents talks on emerging technologies and foresight for local groups including manufacturers and corporations primarily in New York State, and educational institutions throughout the northeast. Marcie enjoys following emerging technologies and projections of where they may lead, but now it looks to her as if everything leads to IT and informatics!

 As a Professor of Practice, on contract, Marcie is the Regional Innovation and SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) Specialist for the Central New York Technology Development Organization (TDO). She operates the Central New York SBIR Outreach Program, which covers a 19-county region, including Central NY, the Southern Tier, and North Country. SBIR federal awards fund early stage high-risk technology development, from which Marcie’s clients have received over $200 million over the last 20 years, from eleven federal agencies. In 1997 Marcie was a recipient of a Tibbetts Award from the U.S. Small Business Administration, given for economic impact from technological innovation through SBIR awards.

Marcie has published articles in national and international journals about technology management and business development. She likes to teach courses that focus on individual, entrepreneurial, and enterprise development, including IDS 401What's the Big Idea and the IDS Minor courses. Marcie is always looking for new opportunities to apply new ideas leading to value creation.
