Title: Persistence, Resistance, and Mycobacterial Toxin-Antitoxin Systems
Speaker Bio: After earning her Ph.D. in Microbiology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Nancy joined Richard Young’s lab at the Whitehead Institute at MIT, where she studied eukaryotic RNA polymerases and transcriptional regulation. She then launched her independent career at the former Roche Institute of Molecular Biology, an academic center affiliated with Columbia University and generously supported by Hoffmann-La Roche in Nutley, NJ. Following the Institute’s unexpected closure, she moved to Rutgers University, where she is now a Full Professor. Her recent research explores how toxin–antitoxin systems in Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium abscessus reprogram cells to survive stress and evade antibiotic clearance.
