 e Dept of Biological Sciences at Columbia University. He carried out his d
 octoral research in the laboratory of Christian Ungermann at Heidelberg Un
 iversity\, studying the biochemistry of membrane dynamics in yeast. As a p
 ostdoctoral fellow in Dianne Newman’s laboratory at Caltech and MIT\, Di
 etrich studied the interplay between metabolism and multicellular developm
 ent in the major pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa. In 2010 Dietrich joined 
 the faculty at Columbia\, where his research group investigates physiologi
 cal heterogeneity and antibiotic tolerance in P. aeruginosa biofilms and a
 ggregates.
