About this Event
Cornell Center for Antimicrobial Resistance Research & Education Spring Seminar Series 2026
Title: Mimicking the Infection Environment to Improve Drug Resistance Detection: The Case of the Antitubercular Drug Pyrazinamide
Speaker Bio: Alexandre Gouzy obtained his Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Toulouse, (France) under the supervision of Dr. Olivier Neyrolles. During his Ph.D., he investigated how Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the causative agent of tuberculosis, scavenges nitrogen sources to survive and grow during infection. As a post-doctoral researcher and now an Assistant Professor in the laboratory of Sabine Ehrt at Weill Cornell Medicine (New York, USA), Dr. Gouzy studies the role M. tuberculosis nutrition and metabolism in resistance to host immunity and anti-tuberculosis drugs.
