 ooperative Extension of Nassau County invite you to participate in our ann
 ual Agricultural Literacy Week to be held in 2023!  Last year\, 2300 books
  were donated to school or classroom libraries and books were read by volu
 nteers to thousands of second graders throughout New York State. \n\n\nThe
  selected book for 2023 is Tomatoes for Neela  written by Padma Lakshmi an
 d illustrated by Juana Martinez-Neal\n\n\nNeela loves cooking with her amm
 a and writing down the recipes in her notebook. It makes her feel closer t
 o her paati who lives far away in India. On Saturdays\, Neela and Amma go 
 to the green market and today they are buying tomatoes to make Paati’s f
 amous sauce. But first\, Neela needs to learn about all the different kind
 s of tomatoes they can pick from. And as Neela and Amma cook together\, th
 ey find a way for Paati to share in both the love and the flavors of the d
 ay.\n\n\nAuthor Padma Lakshmi takes young readers on an intergenerational 
 journey full of delicious flavors and fun food facts that celebrates a fam
 ily’s treasured recipes and illustrator Juana Martinez-Neal brings this 
 circle of women to life with vivid detail and warmth. Tomatoes for Neela l
 ovingly affirms how we can connect to other cultures and build communities
  through food.\n\n\nDates and Time:\n\n\n45 minute time slots are availabl
 e between 9:15am and 2:30pm.  Please sign up for the slot you are interest
 ed in.  If you can not select the time you are interested in\, it is becau
 se that slot has already been filled.   \n\n\n2 weeks before your schedule
 d time slot you will receive a confirmation email with more details.\n\n\n
