ILRAA Women's Council invites you to join us for a discussion on, "Adding it up: Lifetime costs of sexual assault", featuring M. Elizabeth Karns, ILR senior lecturer.
Research evidence of sexual assault impact continues to grow. By linking the injuries to actual costs a lifetime cost can be made and used for recovery. The use of the legal system, in both criminal and civil courts, will be discussed as the way to hold perpetrators responsible for the harms caused.
Liz Karns is an epidemiologist and lawyer. Her research interests involve worker health and safety, ethical responsibilities in the conduct data analysis, and the economic consequences of sexual assault and harassment. Her practice has ranged from individual juvenile clients large multi-national corporations. She is interested in fostering an intellectual environment for students that integrates science, law, and societal needs.
We hope you will be able to join us and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, June 4, 2019.
