DESCRIPTION:Former PMA Faculty Carolyn Michelle Smith returns to Cornell to
  offer two on-camera workshops for student actors\, March 12-13. \n\nWorksh
 op #1: Building the Solo Scene On-Camera\n\nThursday\, March 12\, 4:45-6:45
  pm\, Black Box Theatre\, Schwartz Center \n\nOpen to all students currentl
 y or previously enrolled in PMA 2800 and above \n\nThis two-hour\, particip
 ation-based workshop will begin with an introduction to working on a profes
 sional set\, navigating set dynamics\, and understanding the differences be
 tween stage and on-camera acting. Actors will also be introduced to essenti
 al on-set vocabulary and begin to develop a relationship with the camera as
  a storytelling partner. \n\nActors will then create and perform a short so
 lo scene inspired by a character from a play they’ve previously worked on. 
 Using a brief selection of text from the play—or text they create themselve
 s—students will craft a fully realized scene with a clear beginning\, middl
 e\, and end. Scenes must be no longer than five minutes\, include simple cl
 othing elements to support character\, and will be recorded for camera. \n\

 n\nWorkshop #2: On-Camera Audition Technique \n\nFriday\, March 13\, 3:00-5
 :00 pm\, SB10 Dance Theatre\, Schwartz Center  \n\nOpen to all students who
  have completed PMA 2800\, as well as students currently/formerly enrolled 
 in PMA 3800 and above  \n\nThis two-hour intensive is designed for advanced
  actors looking to strengthen their camera audition skills. Prior to class\
 , students will receive two sets of sides and must choose one to memorize a
 nd prepare for recording. \n\nWe’ll begin with a focused discussion of on-c
 amera audition technique\, including framing\, eyelines\, tone\, pacing\, t
 ext analysis\, and best practices for self-taping and recording setup. Acto
 rs will then record their chosen side\, followed by playback and constructi
 ve feedback on performance choices and use of the frame. Active participati
