A Talk with Mohamad Hafez

Friday, April 27, 2018 at 6:00pm to 7:00pm

Milstein Auditorium

As part of our evening for refugee awareness, ISU is excited to host Art Beyond Borders: An Evening for Refugee Awareness with keynote speaker Mohamad Hafez.

Mohamad Hafez is a Syrian artist and architect born in Damascus, raised in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and educated in the Midwestern United States. Hafez’s art reflects the turmoil in the Middle East and exposes the fragility of human life through the creation of surrealistic streetscapes. He is the co-founder of UNPACKED: Refugee Baggage, a multi-media art installation re-telling the stories of refugees that resettled. A Yale University Silliman College Fellow, Hafez has exhibited installations at highly acclaimed exhibitions all over the world, with artwork profiled in National Public Radio, The New York Times, and The New Yorker.
