8 Hour Apprentice Training Course - February 4, 2026

In accordance with New York State regulations 6 CRR-NY 325.10 a pesticide apprentice needs 8 hours of core classroom training (federal/state laws, safety, labels, equipment, IPM) core training and 40 hours of supervised field experience under a certified pesticide applicator before applying general use pesticides off-site, with records kept by the supervisor for 3+ years post-employment. This 8 hour training course covers only the required core classroom instruction. An apprentice must be a minimum of 16 years old and can only work as an apprentice under supervision of the certified pesticide applicator.

What the Training Covers:

• Laws: Federal & NYS regulations.               


• Safety: Pesticide toxicity, poisoning symptoms, first aid, PPE, spill cleanup.


• Pesticides: Types, labels, SDS, mixing, loading, calibration.              


• Application: Equipment, weather, IPM, environmental concerns.               


• Record Keeping: Legal requirements and liability.
