How Does The Challenge Work?
Using the downloadable hydration tracking sheet, write down your water intake in fluid ounces per day, as well as the total fluid ounces you drank at the conclusion of the 5-day time period. The goal is to try and drink 1/2 your body weight in fluid ounces per day. Email your completed hydration tracking sheet to Derek Fiacco, Cornell Wellness' Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, to be entered into the prize drawing. One prize winner will be drawn from all individuals who drink a minimum of 50 fluid ounces of water over the course of 1 day. Another prize winner will be drawn from all individuals who drink a minimum of 50 fluid ounces over the course of 3 days. Note: 8 fluid ounces = 1 cup. Example: A 200 lb. individual should aim for 100 fluid ounces per day.

Why Do We Need Fluids?
Water in the body is essential for many important processes to take place. From our blood system carrying essential glucose, oxygen and nutrients to cells, to the kidneys getting rid of waste products we no longer want, fluid in the body is vital to allow these processes to occur. It also lubricates our joints and eyes, helps our digestive system function and keeps our skin healthy.
