July 2025

Hello NY State Fair Participants,

During the Boonville Fair project judging you selected items to be evaluated and placed on display at the NY State Fair.

Please follow the directions below. ( you received all the paperwork mentioned below when you picked up your projects after the Boonville Fair)

Enclosed in that envelope you will find the project evaluation sheet, a list of items going to the State Fair and a copy of the State Fair requirements for project submission.

Evaluation sheet:  (Cloverbuds skip this step) Since you will not be meeting with the judge that will be reviewing your project it is vital that you take the time to answer the questions and share as much information in writing as possible.

It is important to share not only what you learned while creating this item it is also important to share any personal stories about why you may have chosen certain colors or themes, what inspired you!  Include things like research of other artists or help with your technique. Don’t forget to include how your project relates to a family story or custom.

When writing about how you got the idea for this project do not just say it was part of the 4-H Art in the Bucket project.  The judges have no idea what that is.  Instead say something like this ( in your own words) “In Oneida County we have a project known as Art in the Bucket.  The bucket contains some of the supplies we will need to create several specific projects.  While several of us take on the challenge each of us has the opportunity to be creative and decorate our items however we choose.  For this project “Who Am I “  I created a larger than life size  cardboard depiction of myself as a _______________.  This represents me because…………….

Information Packet When you picked up your Boonville Fair projects you were given an envelope  containing information regarding the State Fair.  Please use the peach colored exhibit tag for your submission.  Attach and fold your paperwork to the exhibit tag. Fold it in fours and staple it to the back of the exhibit tag. Please note the submission card is double sided and it must be filled out

I have no authority at the State Fair so please make sure you have everything the way you want it judged ready to go.

State Fair Book Here is the link for the 4-H State Fair information Link for 4-H State Fair Info
The premium book can be found on this website. The State Fair may have additional requirement for certain projects, so please read carefully.

Please look your items over and make any needed corrections to your project before you return it to the office.  Touch up any sloppy painting, trim threads on sewing projects. Review that State Fair information

The State Fair is the next level of competition.  Their rules and requirements are different and much stricter than the Boonville Fairs.  Be sure you read the information enclosed and follow the rules.

Registrations must be completed by 8/15/25

State Fair submissions can be dropped off  between 8am-4:30pm weekdays at the CCE office in Oriskany with completed paperwork from  8/10-8/1/24.

The 4-H staff will take your project up to the State Fair for display.  We will bring your projects back when the State Fair is over.

Please give us a few days to organize things after the State Fair is over. Your State Fair projects can be picked up from the CCE office starting 9/12/24
