Broome County Summer Agricultural Municipal Training: Model Ag Zoning, Land Use Conflict Resolution and Land Conservation

Join Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County and Broome County Department of Planning and Economic Development for their annual summer agricultural municipal training, taking place on Wednesday July 17th from 4pm-7pm at the TASTE NY building, located at 840 Front St, Binghamton.


This training will feature speakers from NYS Department of Agriculture & Markets, the Upper Susquehanna Coalition and the Southern Tier Land Conservancy. 


Topics will include:



  • Model ag zoning for municipalities, including the role of ag zoning in supporting agricultural development, considerations in creation, and examples from across the region and state;

  • Land Use Conflict Resolution: an overview of typical scenarios and resources available for landowners and municipal officials; and

  • Land Conservation & Open Space Preservation: an overview of programs and resources available to municipalities and landowners to facilitate land conservation focused on climate resiliency and open space preservation. We'll also hear several examples from across the Southern Tier. 


Up to 3 credits are available for Planning Board & Zoning Board of Appeals members. Dinner will be provided for attendees of both sessions. Pre-registration required to ensure an adequate meal count and copies of handouts. There is no cost to attend.
