The 2021 Cornell Field Crops annual field day will be held August 12th highlighting the latest field crops research across CALS and providing an opportunity for in-person exchange of ideas and experiences. This year's program offers a wide variety of content from no-till planting into rolled cover crops to the use of unoccupied robotic vehicles to monitor plant growth and health.
Presenters and topics:
Niko Kochendoerfer - Managing photovoltaic solar arrays with sheep to optimize pollinator habitat, vegetation biodiversity, and soil carbon
Virginia Moore - Variety selection for cover crop interseeding
Rebecca Nelson and Ace Repka - Genetics of disease resistance in maize and the recovery of nutrients from sanitation to agriculture
Kelly Robbins - Modeling plant growth and development using proximal sensing technologies
Matt Ryan, Annika Rowland, Jake Allen, Uri Menalled, Chris Pelzer - No-till planting into rolled cover crops
Lynn Sosnoski - Identifying amaranths to improve weed control
Registration is free but is limited to 115 people and is required by Monday, August 2nd. A box lunch with water will be provided.
NYS DEC Pesticide Recertification Credits (Demonstration, Agricultural Plant, and Field and Forage - 1.50 credits each) and CCA credits will be offered.
