Pesticide Certification Training

This is a training to assist those people who are preparing to pass the Pesticide CORE and Category exams as required by NYS DEC to attain a license.

Day 1, March 11th, 12:30 - 4:00pm CORE Training essentials - to follow and participate in this training you must have a Core Manual (3rd Edition Blue and white cover) to work with in class. We are urging you to call DEC and Extension in advance to set things up for the training and the testing

Day 2, March 18, 12:30 - 4:00pm additional training, information, and greater opportunity to focus beyond the basics

Topics include: A review of the Key items in the Core training manual that are likely to be on the test. The second day will include embellishments to the first day’s information and provide opportunities for clarification and review. The focus is to prepare you to pass the test.

Core manuals and workbooks need to be ordered in advance (by March 2nd ) through CCE of Cayuga County if you don’t have a current copy. We would like you to register in advance so the materials that we are going to work with will be available on Day 1. The Core Manual is $42.00 and there are other Category books that can be ordered based on the topic and type of license you are pursuing. Please call ahead to register (maximum 20 in this class) and declare which material you will need us to order. This process saves you time and money.

We recommend that those wanting to prepare for the test attend both days.

This CORE training is NOT to provide RECERTIFICATION CREDIT, as may have been in the past.

Cost: CORE class training all inclusive March 11th & 18th- $25.00 per person
Core training manual $42 , and the other Category manuals-prices vary.

*Prior to registering for these training classes call DEC1-800-388-8244 ext.232 to review your qualifying experience and determine if you can sit for the test and receive the packet of materials to register for the Core and Category test that will be conducted in Syracuse or Cortland. The DEC Fee to take the test is $100 for the Core and one Category given that day.
