4-H DOG OBEDIENCE Course 2020

Cornell Cooperative Extension Cayuga County is hosting a 4-H Dog Obedience Course for enrolled Cayuga County 4-H Junior and Senior Members (Not available for cloverbud youth)

For Beginner Novice Class ONLY - must attend a meet-n-greet class on Thursday, April 16th. Please make note of the time you choose for your meet-n-greet session. You will receive a confirmation email once registration is closed solidifying your appointment time.

PARENT or GUARDIAN must attend and stay for all classes, regardless of the youth’s age.
Dogs must be at least 6 months of age and controllable in order to be used in dog obedience classes. This will be determined at the discretion of the instructor and/or 4-H Educator.

CLASSES START: Thursday, April 30th in the evening.

PER-REGISTRATION & PAYMENT to: CCE Cayuga County is Required by April 16th

COST: $20 per youth/dog combination. For example, if you have (2) dogs participating in the program, then the fee would be $40.

Members will be divided into appropriate class-levels based on age and experience.
BEGINNER MEMBERS:

All brand-new dog obedience participants are required to do a “meet and greet” on Thursday, April 16th. New Members will be scheduled for an appointment to come have their dog evaluated for controllability and to get fitted for a leash and collar. This appointment will take approximately 15 minutes. If you need a PROPER leash and collar you will be responsible for this additional cost. Plan on about $15 dollars total for these 2 items.

ALL CLASSES HELD at: Cornell Cooperative Extension Office, 248 Grant Ave, Auburn, NY 13021.

CLASS TIMES: Beginner 6:30-7:15; Advanced 7:30-8:15

Youth are REQUIRED to attend all dog obedience classes, unless there is a family emergency or illness. As such, if a youth misses more than 3 classes, they will not be eligible to graduate from the course.

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST PROVIDE A COPY TO THE OFFICE: up-to-date rabies vaccination paperwork and show proof of recent shot records at the time of registration.
