Focus on Fungus

Fungi are mysterious things that capture our imaginations with their weird, ephemeral beauty. Cornell's Plant Pathology Herbarium contains the stories of thousands of fungal species, as well as the stories of the generations of Cornell scientists and students who studied them. This family-friendly exhibition celebrates these fascinating tales with photographs, specimens, and interactive stations. Join us for a rare look at the remarkable world of mycology that lives inside the Herbarium.

Now Scream!: the Hip Hop Collection exhibition

Cornell University Library’s new exhibition Now Scream! celebrates the Hip Hop culture's 40th birthday and the collection's first major exhibition.

The world’s largest archive on the birth and spread of Hip Hop culture, and a gift from author and curator Johan Kugelberg, the Cornell Hip Hop Collection has grown to include more than 50,000 items since arriving at Cornell in 2007. On view are rare and classic vinyl records, photographs, event flyers, live performance and interview recordings; research footage, original artwork, photography and film production notes from 1983’s “Wild Style,” the first feature film about Hip Hop culture; blackbooks and drawings by Golden Age graffiti writers; and never-before-seen footage from the earliest-known film of a Hip Hop performance.

The exhibition and associated events are funded by the generous support of the Stephen ’58, MBA ’59 and Evalyn Edwards ’60 Milman Exhibition Fund, Ronni Lacroute ’66, Johan Kugelberg, and Jon A. and Virginia Lindseth ’56.

The Samuel L. Hirshland Gallery is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Click on "see more dates" at the top, for more information, or check the Library Web site for updates and Saturday hours at www.library.cornell.edu/.
