Join us for a tree planting party on May 17, 9 am – 4 pm (or as long as you can)! Bring your friends!
We can provide transportation, and we will provide FOOD! You also get to take a FREE TREE home. But best of all, with each of these trees planted you will improve carbon sequestration, biodiversity and water conservation.
More about the project: Deer pressure is a huge threat to our forests. This project will evaluate the effectiveness of different seedling protection methods, and it will be unique in its scope and variety. We will plant almost 1,000 trees (mostly white oak, maple and cherry) on about 2 acres, stake and tag them and install various seedling protection devices. The researchers and foresters will be there all day – there is no better way to learn about trees, than working alongside professionals!
This project is sponsored by the Cornell University Agricultural Experiment Station and the Department of Natural Resources.
