The Maker Movement: Finding Meaning in Work

Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 6:00pm to 9:00pm

NYC - ILR Conference Center
570 Lexington Avenue, 12th Floor, New York, NY 10022

The Maker Movement with Mark Frauenfelder, Research Director, Institute for the Future; Founding Editor-in-Chief, MAKE Magazine; Co-founder, Boing Boing; Editor-in-Chief, Cool-Tools.org

In 2004, Mark Frauenfelder was asked to put together a new kind of magazine that would combine a DIY ethos and technology. His idea, Make, has inspired a movement around the world. From new kinds of organizations (Maker Spaces), gatherings (Maker Faire), to companies (Maker Bot), maker-ism celebrates individual creativity and the pleasure of producing.

Mark will talk about what Makerism means in the 21st century and why it is so necessary as we rethink the future of work.
