The Future of Nature: Agriculture

Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 5:00pm

Coltivare 235 South Cayuga Street, Ithaca, NY

Did you know that about 23% of New York’s land is used by farms to produce a diverse array of products? Meet two NatureNet fellows and explore connections between conservation and agriculture as we discuss new work in New York designed to ensure that both people and nature thrive.

The NatureNet Science Fellows program is designed to amplify The Nature Conservancy’s work by investing in the research of early-career scientists. Each year, fellows hosted by Cornell’s Atkinson Center for a Sustainable Future provide our chapter with a unique opportunity to connect their expertise with our local projects. You’ll hear from NatureNet Fellows Shannan Sweet and Aaron Iverson about their work to help local farmers adapt to climate change and develop novel forms of sustainable agriculture. You’ll also have the chance to contribute to a discussion about how their research might inform our work for healthy waters and a more resilient climate in Central and Western New York.

  • 5:00 p.m. — Reception
  • 6:00 p.m. — Program
