What You'll Learn
Professor Hudler 's course - "Magical Mushrooms, Mischievous Molds" - was an instant hit with Cornell undergraduates the very first time it was taught, and it has since become one of the most popular offerings in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. His recipe of one part wit and one part wisdom blended with a healthy dose of enthusiasm draws even the most reluctant souls closer than they had ever expected to the wonderfully rotten world of fungi. Hudler will introduce you to the role of fungi as nature's most industrious recyclers of organic matter, as causes of disease in plants and animals, as food, and as sources of mind altering chemicals. Along the way, you'll learn how the fungi had profound effects on the lives of such luminaries as
John F. Kennedy, Indiana Jones, Moses, Joan of Arc, Bob Dylan, Timothy Leary, and Santa Claus. Who knows? You could be next!
