Science Days 2018 Past, Present, Future

2018 Science Days will be held at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oneida County, 121 Second St., Oriskany, NY on April 23rd, 24th and 25th from 9am to 3pm each day. The cost for early registration is $25 per a day for 4-H members and $30 per a day for non-4H members. If you register for all three days you will save $5.00. You may register for 1 day or all 3 days.

Prices double for registrations after March 31st. No registrations will be accepted after April 7th.

April 23rd– Explore with Joanne Humphreys from Oneida County Soil and Water as you get your hands wet while learning why keeping our streams and waterways clean is vital to the survival and the conservation efforts to reintroduce/preserve the giant prehistoric creatures residing in Oneida Lake. Thomas E. Brooking Cornell University Biological Field Station. Use geometry to do Dip Dot painting 4-H Leader Lory van Lieshout. Lunch: pizza, salad

April 24th- NY State is being threatened by alien invaders. Hands on interactive activity will teach how they infiltrate our eco-system and how we can help prevent their spread. Megan Pistolese Education/Outreach Coordinator SLELO PRISM. Meet Merlin from the Utica Zoo and learn how the once endangered Falcon is making a comeback in downtown Utica. Wildlife Rehabilitator, Deborah Saltis. 4-H Members Kylie and Alexis Tennent will teach you about the Mastodons that once roamed our backyards. Make a bird puppet. Lunch: grilled cheese, chicken soup

April 25th- Dig through time with Paleontologist Victor P. Tollerton, Jr. Research Associate in Paleontology, New York State Museum as you explore the fossils of NY State. Meet some creatures from the Utica Zoo. Mine fossils fuels through sedimentary rocks and build a dinosaur. Lunch: hot dogs, mac and cheese

All three days are packed with fun educational activities. Lunch and a healthy snack will be provided each day.

Many of the activities scheduled will require patience from the participant. We welcome any parent that would like to stay and lend a helping hand.

Please complete the following required medical permission slip and bring it with your child the day of the event.
