Protecting the World’s Last Pristine Ocean: Ross Sea, Antarctica

Monday, September 30, 2013 at 7:30pm to 9:00pm

Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Auditorium 159 Sapsucker Woods Road, Ithaca

The Ross Sea in Antarctica is one of the most untouched marine ecosystems on Earth. Incredibly large populations of several marine bird and mammal species coexist. Understanding how that is possible is key to maintaining the ecological integrity of the system. Grant Ballard of Blue Point Conservation Science will discuss the effort to create the Ross Sea Marine Protected Area and what the public can do to help. The seminar is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and will close when room capacity is reached.

This seminar will also be streamed live at www.livestream.com/cornellalumni
