Sufism is often understood as the form of Islam most disengaged from the social arena. For contemporary Sufi orders in Iran, however, mystical epistemologies are utilized to navigate the realm of the everyday. This talk will analyze one such instance where Iranian Sufis draw upon classical theories of wandering and listening to guide them in navigating the local politics of an Iranian city
