NO, Deer! Plants for a Deer-Resistant Garden

If you’ve done any gardening around the region, you’ve probably noticed the deer population. Can anything be done to protect your plants? The short answer is, YES! While some gardeners find solace in fencing, others focus on plants that are best bets to survive the ravages of our white-tailed friends. This evening tour will focus on plants tested by Dr. Mark Bridgen, director of Cornell's Long Island Horticultural Research and Extension Center, and listed on his list of “Plants that Deer Do Not Like to Eat.” We will visit selected areas of the Botanical Garden, and while we learn about deer-resistant plants to try at home, we’ll enjoy the height-of-summer beauty of the Garden and learn a little about each of the collections we visit. Group size will be limited.
