Ithaca
This exhibit shows photographs of banal, quotidian objects and homely, familiar spaces, generally with little or no intervention. The objects depicted are usually cheap commodities made up of pressed wood and metal, plastic tarps, cardboard, and linoleum. In most cases they seem degenerate and pathetic, and as objects they are. However the objects that fill the space do not dictate the affect of the space. There runs a contradiction between the supposed nature of the thing (commodity) and its reception, forming an auxiliary relationship that creates a slippage between reading and experience.
