With Jean-Paul Belmondo, Emmanuelle Riva
When the men of a small French town leave to fight in WWII, the women are left alone, with only one man, Leon Morin, priest, young and handsome enough to tempt them. A young, communist widow engages in an intellectual relationship with the priest that quickly calls into question his sense of morality. The new restoration includes two additional sequences, totaling 11 minutes, apparently cut after the movie's premiere at the Venice Film Festival. Subtitled. More at Cosponsored with the French Studies Program.
