Ithaca Festival 2012
Sunday, June 3, 2012
Downtown Ithaca Ithaca, NY
Schedule for Thursday, May 31
Festival Mile Race - 6:00pm
Parade - 6:30pm
Festival Concessions - 5:00-9:00pm in Dewitt Park
Each year the festival has an overarching theme to which all festival features, events and merchandise are related. The 2012 theme is Finger Lakes Luau. This theme will allow for the creation of many wonderful festival parade floats, performances and works of art.
This year local student artist Meghan Wood created the art work for the Official Festival Commemorative Merchandise which includes the $5 festival button, "Your ticket to the Festival". Merchandise is available now at Wegmans and other locations all over town.
The festival is made up of many different components of community involvement. We can expect to see over 150 ( wow) performing groups, 100 crafters, 30 food vendors and countless community groups offering education and children's activities. Applications are still available for participation in the 2012 Gorges Green Expo, set to take place all day Sunday on the Commons. Volunteers are always needed and accepted on a rolling basis.
Be sure to check out our Finger Lakes Luau on Friday night June 1st with the Sim Redmond Band and a pig roast hosted by The Piggery from 8pm to midnight at the Ithaca Farmers Market.
This year the festival will take place all four days downtown on the Ithaca Commons. For just this year the festival will forego the traditional move to Stewart Park on Sunday. This will allow for new and exciting programming to take place in an expanded footprint downtown. Be assured that the festival will continue to offer all the same great variety of fun and entertainment, creativity and whimsy as it does every year.

Not the greatest Ithaca Fest parade, but it was dry and there were a lot of people having fun while they were marching, from the very young to the very old

Weather dampened the experience - did like the adult-only atmosphere of the State St Beer Garden
