ILR School in NYC, 12th Floor 570 Lexington Ave (at 51st), New York, NY

The Cornell Speech and Debate Society is heading to the Cornell ILR School in the Big Apple this fall! Cornell student debaters will advance civil discourse and preserve over 150 years of Cornell debate tradition. Plus, hear remarks from ILR School Kenneth F. Kahn ’69 Dean Alexander Colvin, ILR PhD ’99.

Please join us as the Cornell Speech and Debate Society tackles:

Is Universal Basic Income our next generation’s future?

With automation on the rise across industries, the future of work is uncertain. Given this reality, is the United States at a point where it needs to start thinking about a system that would provide a universal basic income to all citizens regardless of their need or economic circumstances? This multifaceted topic is gaining traction in mainstream political discourse as a solution to predicted unemployment problems driven by automation. Cornell student debaters will explore both sides of the issue.

Carson Crane, Arts & Sciences ’22, Victor Rieman, ILR ’21, Alice Kreher, Human Ecology ’21,  and Jin Mo Koo, Arts and Sciences ’22 will be debating.
