Insights into the genetic basis of crop nutritional quality and stress resilience

Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 12:20pm to 1:10pm

Emerson Hall, 135

Abstract: Sustainable, resilient food systems are critical to providing food and nutrition security to a burgeoning human population. The first part of the talk will focus on establishing the genetic foundation of vitamin E and provitamin A grain traits for genomics-assisted breeding of nutrient-dense maize varieties. The second part of the talk will highlight efforts to develop and apply field-based phenomics systems for examining the genetic basis of stress-responsive traits in several crops.
