Increasing the sustainability of maize cropping using Adapt-N: Model performance and applications to environmental policies

Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 12:20pm to 1:10pm

Emerson Hall, 135

Routine application of N fertilizers to maize production systems in the U.S has led to well-documented environmental problems and social costs. There is a potential to reduce these costs through implementation of better N management. The talk will present Adapt-N, a model-based decision support tool, developed at Cornell University. The research gaps that led to the development of the model, as well as its structure and performance will be discussed. The presentation will further demonstrate applications of Adapt-N in U.S. environmental policies promoted to increase nutrient use efficiency of maize production.
