ILRAA: Immigrant Girl, Radical Woman

Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 5:30pm to 8:00pm

NYC - ILR Conference Center
16 E 34th St, New York, NY 10016, USA

Immigrant Girl, Radical Woman is Matilda Rabinowitz’s memoir of her life as an immigrant from Russia in the early 20th Century. She worked in sweatshops at age 13, became a union organizer, leader of strikes, and socialist. As a single mother making her way in her adopted land, she worked for women’s rights, workers’ rights, and economic and social equality.

Join us for a discussion with her granddaughter, who provided commentary and illustrations for Immigrant Girl, Radical Woman, Robbin Légère Henderson and Professor Ileen A. De Vault, ILR Professor of Labor History and Academic Director of the Worker Institute.

Purchase the book from Cornell University Press.
