Brian Dillon is a development economist who studies poverty and food security in low-income countries, primarily in sub-Saharan Africa. Recent projects have focused on the effects of a seasonal diet on long-run health outcomes; the emergence of new markets for agricultural technologies; links between food and energy markets; rural labor markets; and information services to complement mobile phones in rural Tanzania. Dillon received his Ph.D. in economics from Cornell University in 2011. He earned a BS in Mathematics and a BA in Philosophy from Loyola University Chicago, and an M.Phil. in Economics as a Gates Scholar at the University of Cambridge. Prior to joining the Evans School he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Harvard Kennedy School and the Cornell Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management. Brian has received research funding from the National Science Foundation, the World Bank, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, USAID, DFID, Amazon Catalyst, and the Agricultural Technology Adoption Initiative.
