From Zero-Sum to Peace

Israel and Palestine Conversations Series, Kick-Off Event

On many campuses, battling pro-Palestine and pro-Israel student groups are engaged in a zero-sum feud for the sympathies of the wider student body. Often times the "debate" is noisy, intimidating and intellectually crude. Cornell Hillel is proud to announce the opening event for its Israel and Palestine Conversations series “From Zero-Sum to Peace” . The talk will bring American’s For Peace Now Spokesmen, Ori Nir and Palestinian Chair of the board of Washington's Museum of the Palestinian People, Nizar Farsakh who will share their personal stories and shed light on their national movements, explore common ground for future solutions to the national conflict, and answer your questions.

About the Speakers:

Americans’ for Peace Now Director of Communications and Public Engagement Mr. Ori Nir. Ori worked for Haaretz Daily, Israel's leading newspaper, where he covered Palestinian affairs and Israel's Arab minority. He also served as Haaretz's Washington bureau chief and later as its US West Coast correspondent. Mr. Nir was also the Washington Bureau Chief for the Forward, America's largest and most influential independent national Jewish weekly newspaper.

Mr. Nizar Farsakh Chair of the Board of Washington’s Museum of the Palestinian People and formerly an advisor to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and served on his negotiating staff.

Snacks and light refreshments will be provided
