Weevils—destroyers of crops… biocontrol agents…charismatic beauties? Kent Loeffler’s dazzling large-format digital images, featured in Cornell entomologist E. Richard Hoebeke’s forthcoming book, “An Illustrated Identification Guide to the Adventive (Non-Native) Weevils (Curculionoidea) of North America,” reveal the extraordinary diversity and, yes, beauty of the largest group of herbivorous beetles.
Dozens of these breathtaking macro-photos are on display in the Mann Library Gallery now through September 30, along with in-depth descriptions of both weevils and the photographic process used to capture them in such vivid detail.
