Cornell Cooperative Extension of Allegany County is offering aspiring, beginning and transitioning farmers atraining focused on understanding how to work with livestock. Farmers need to know what’s normal to be able to recognize abnormal behavior in their stock. With classroom and hands-on workshops covering safe handling and restraint, safe moving & transporting, routine animal care, producers will enhance knowledge and skill to work safely with livestock.
For active or retired military veterans, program fee is $25 which includes meals and program materials. Additional travel stipends up to $200 available through the Cornell Small Farms Program - Farm Ops. Contact Kat McCarthy at email@example.com for information on travel stipends.
Space is limited to 35 participants, pre-registration deadline EXTENDED to March 8, 2018.
