Energy and the Environment: Known Unknowns and Unknown Unknowns
Engineering in a social context and the roles of Cornell engineers
This talk goes through the recent history in the development of modern air conditioning and automobiles, scientific exploration for refrigerants and gasolines, intended and unintended consequences of energy utilization. While energy and the environment are both essential to sustainable development, environmental constraints don't have to stifle energy innovations. The speaker tries to argue that, in fact, history has shown the opposite to be true.
