Data Documentation: What did TMTC mean? How to describe your data

Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 4:00pm to 5:30pm

Mann Library, Stone Classroom
Cornell University Mann Library, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY 14853, USA

While paper documentation like a lab notebook is still important, the platforms on which modern researchers are working and collecting data are increasingly complex. How do you document your digital data and the steps you take to analyze it? Are your files sufficiently organized and well-described so that others can interpret what you’ve done? What about yourself, three months from now? During this workshop on data documentation, we’ll discuss this challenge, and offer some best practices and strategies to adopt in order to organize and describe your data for yourself and others.
