Andrew Hicks (Cornell University) presents "Harmonizing the Phenomena: The Musical Aesthetics of Medieval Cosmology." His research focuses on the early history of musical thought from a cross-disciplinary perspective, tracing its role within the wider spectrum of philosophical, cosmological, and scientific discourse in late antiquity and the middle ages. He is particularly interested in medieval translations and transformations of ancient Greek harmonic theory in both Latin and Arabo-Persian traditions.
